Fire dancers...

The spirally flames seen in this photograph were captured earlier this evening at a fire friendly event downtown. An assortment of willing participants, embraced the heat and danger in order to share their unusual talents with an awestruck crowd. Strong wind gusts caused some of the performers to temporarily catch on fire, though help was always close at hand. Like a child with a sparkler on the Fourth of July, I found myself being completely enthralled and amazed by show. From spitting flames and balancing burning batons on bellies to twirling ignited balls and spinning sizzling hula hoops, the artists remained focused and energetic. A simple WOW adequately sums of the experience. It was fascinating!

A secret revealed...

Last fall, as a willing victim of an impulse purchase, I acquired some bulbs from the local garden store. I was drawn to the notion of surprising Kyle, as well as creating a way to document the passing of time. Just a few weeks ago, my secret mission paid off. A beautiful tulip emerged. The power of patience and persistence is symbolized in this magnificent flower. Every time I see it, I smile. Even with all the craziness that surrounds us, I am grateful to know that simple joys trump everything else. Enjoy!

A passing...

Please take a moment to ponder life. To reflect upon your passions and dreams. What cause(s) are you working to further or achieve? Does your life have purpose? These are all questions that I have been challenged by recently as we learned of the passing of one of our friends from Petersburg. Glen Ith was a hero on many levels. He stood up for what he believed was right, even when the costs were great. His death was tragic and unexpected. He leaves behind a wonderful wife and beautiful daughter. As each of us must face the realization that our days our numbered, may we strive to keep ourselves in check. Though we cannot control the future, it is our duty to live each day to the fullest. May you start making your dreams come true today, for life is but a vapor. Be well and be happy.

A Little Peace...

As a follow up to my latest posting about peace, I wanted to share a beautiful book I discovered today. It has fantastic images paired with simple ideas for creating a peaceful world. The book is titled, "A Little Peace" by Barbara Kerley, and it can be found in the children's section of most major bookstores. Hope you enjoy it!
