A taste of Alaska...

Sometimes the unexpected can put into motion a renewed sense of clarity and inspiration. Tonight was one of those moments. A last minute peruse through the local entertainment guide clued us into the reality that one of our favorite Alaskan bands was coming to our area. Braving the ominous weather reports, we headed to Ojai to take in the show, and what an incredible performance it was. Wow! Bearfoot transported us back to a place of fond memories, while moving our spirits to sway with the soulful tunes. We definitely recommend checking them out. They are amazing! www.bearfootband.com

Snow in the foothills...

We've been having some unseasonably crazy weather down here in Santa Barbara lately. To quote our favorite local weatherman, Dave Hovde, "It has been a weather SUPERBOWL!" There have been torrential downpours of rain, tornado warnings, thunderstorms, strong winds, and even snow in the surrounding foothills. Rumor has it that more bad weather is on the way, though we're taking it one day at a time.

Good friends ROCK!!!

Our latest weekend getaway involved a visit to the home of one of my dear friends from college. The prospect of the crazy drive to L.A. always makes me anxious, though fortunately our trip went smoothly. Shortly after our arrival, we caravaned to a park just "minutes" away from their home. Much of our time there was spent chasing after fearless children, who had unquenchable desires to go higher and higher. The following morning, we explored a Thai temple, and ate very authentically delicious food from a nearby vendor. In defiance of stereotypes, we truly enjoyed a whole new side of L.A. County.

USS Ronald Reagan

Where's some Top Gun music when you need it? Oh well, Kenny Loggins lives in town, we'll just have to find out what pub he's playing 'Danger Zone' at. There were approximately 5,000 sailors all over town in white hats this weekend, from S.B to I.V. And of course the weather was beautiful, a balmy 75 degrees. A lovely day at the beach!

Waiting for the green flash...

Earlier this evening we went for a walk on the beach. As the sun began to sink below the horizon, I looked around and noticed that many of the other "beach-strollers" were pausing to observe this natural phenomenon as well. Unlike most sunsets that I have seen, this evenings show seemed to last for an eternity. It was as if the very tip of the sun was suspended in a timeless space. Were we actual witnesses to time standing still, or was it our anticipation of the "green flash" that clouded our perspective of time? Hmmm....makes me wonder???

Winter Wonderlands....

After months of little variation in the weather, Kyle and I were delighted to find ourselves in a few different winter wonderlands up north. We made snowballs, snowpeople, and even snowangels. In addition, we were able to join our nephew Jonah on his first trip to the snow. Grams got in on the action as well. Though her smile may look innocent, she throws quite the curveball. Watch out! On another outing, we adventured with Kevin and Katie (the soon-to-be-newlyweds) on a hike through a snowstorm. Ahhh...Life is Good!
